A gateways to outdoor education
Our Learning Centres are gateways to outdoor education in Bannau Brycheiniog. Each one provides a safe, welcoming base for schools and groups to explore the National Park, with sessions designed to support the Curriculum for Wales and bring learning to life. From day visits to residential stays, the centres offer flexible opportunities for learners of all ages to connect with nature, history and culture. Each centre is supported by our Education Team, who deliver sessions that link directly to the Curriculum for Wales and wider learning goals.
Craig-y-nos Country Park
Craig-y-nos Country Park is set in 40 acres of riverside meadows, woodlands and lakes, with a historic castle backdrop. It provides a safe and inspiring setting for outdoor learning, where pupils can study habitats, river systems and local history in one place.
National Park Visitor Centre
Located near Libanus, the Visitor Centre combines stunning views of Pen y Fan with interactive exhibitions and accessible facilities. It is an ideal starting point for guided walks, workshops and curriculum-linked sessions, giving learners both practical experience and context for their studies.
YHA Danywenallt Study Centre
YHA Danywenallt offers residential programmes for schools and groups. Surrounded by woodlands, meadows and the Talybont Reservoir, it provides opportunities for extended fieldwork and team-building activities. Residential visits allow learners to immerse themselves in the Park over several days, developing independence and deepening their connection with nature.
