Ambassador Schools

By becoming an Ambassador School, pupils, teachers and the wider school community gain the chance to learn about the Park, take pride in caring for it, and share their knowledge with others.

Inspiring the next generation

The Ambassador Schools programme helps young people build a lasting connection with Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. By becoming an Ambassador School, pupils, teachers and the wider school community gain the chance to learn about the Park, take pride in caring for it, and share their knowledge with others.

Why take part?

Joining the programme shows your school’s commitment to sustainability and outdoor learning. It offers pupils the chance to explore the Park in a meaningful way, linking their experiences to the Curriculum for Wales while encouraging a deeper understanding of nature, culture and heritage. Taking part also strengthens community connections, as pupils share their learning with families and local groups.

For teachers, the scheme provides resources, training and direct support from our Education Team. These tools make it easier to deliver outdoor learning, run projects, and embed sustainability across the curriculum. For pupils, the programme develops skills in leadership, responsibility and teamwork while encouraging pride in the environment around them.

What’s involved?

Ambassador Schools work with us on a journey of discovery, focusing on the Park’s special qualities. The programme includes classroom resources, outdoor activities and opportunities to visit the Park with support from our team. Schools are encouraged to carry out projects that raise awareness of the National Park and inspire others to look after it.

Becoming an Ambassador School is not just about badges or certificates. It is about creating a culture where pupils understand the importance of the environment, feel empowered to act, and pass that enthusiasm on to others.

Support for schools

Every school that takes part receives a dedicated Ambassador Schools pack. This includes teaching materials, activity ideas and guidance for linking the programme to the Curriculum for Wales. Our Education Team is also on hand to provide advice, help plan visits, and share best practice.

Celebrating achievement

Schools that achieve Ambassador status are recognised for their efforts and become part of a growing network across the National Park. Pupils who take part develop skills and confidence that last well beyond the classroom, while schools benefit from recognition as leaders in sustainability and outdoor learning.
